The Italian luxury brand, Moschino, celebrates its 30th anniversary with a limited edition capsule collection (in black, white and red). In tribute to the brand, the collection honors the rebellious and whimsical designs Franco Moschino was notorious for. His surrealistic variations on fashion and innovative designs, not only carried on Elsa Schiaparelli’s legacy, but launched Moschino an internationally recognized fashion label. Franco, who passed away nearly 20 years ago from complications with AIDS, caught his big break into the fashion world, when Gianni Versace caught his eye. He began working as a sketcher for the brand and later became a designer for Cadette, before starting his own label. Franco Moschino thought of himself as an entertainer and artist, rather than the typical fashion designer; my feeling is that this gave him the freedom to create playful yet provocative designs.
I remember my very first Moschino purchase… I was on Holiday with my family in Milan when I found the fabulous, iconic black Moschino logo belt. I had to have it! There began my love for Moschino. He inspires me to bring playful elements, and color (especially red), into my wardrobe. Earlier this year, I got very excited when I discovered that Moschino was bringing the exact logo from my belt to its bags. I made a quick phone call, and soon enough the purse was on its way to my front door.
