A little evening theatre
New York has a way of making the simple act of getting dressed feel like the beginning of a story. The lamps come on, the limestone buildings turn softly golden, and suddenly a little fringe feels entirely appropriate. Perhaps it’s the ballerina in me, but I’m always drawn to clothes that come alive with movement.
For this City Moment, I’m wearing Cult Gaia’s Monica dress in Winter Plum. I love the contrast of its high neckline and short hem, with those long, delicate strands of fringe bringing a little swish to every step. The rich wine shade feels especially beautiful against the city’s pale stone and warm evening light.
The matching Calla pumps carry that color right down to the toes. Their sculptural flower detail is such a pretty finishing touch, while the slender gold heels add just enough shine. A dress with movement and a shoe with a little drama—my kind of pairing.
A black Hermès Mini Kelly keeps the rest beautifully simple. Its crisp shape and gold hardware sit so well beside the softness of the fringe. Three pieces, one rich color story, and the lovely feeling of having an evening ahead of you. I’d reach for this look for dinner in Manhattan, with my hair loose and the dress doing most of the talking.
